Replacing Amalgams
Amalgams are metal fillings in your teeth. They may have been used for teeth in the back of your mouth so that the filling would be a bit less noticeable. Changing your fillings for a more natural composite or resin material will improve the look of your smile. We match the filling material to the tooth so that it does not appear to have a filling. An added bonus is for those patients with tooth sensitivity, sometimes removing the metal fillings can help reduce the heat or cold sensitivity of a tooth.
Gum Contouring
Sometimes the gum line has grown a little higher than usual or is a little lower than normal, this can be the result of genetics, periodontal disease, or certain prescription medications. Receding gums can make your teeth look long and also lead to serious future problems including cavities. In these situations, patients can have their gums reshaped in a procedure which is considered a minor surgery. Local anesthetic is applied to the area, and you may feel a small amount of soreness afterward.
