What is tooth bonding?
Bonding is the application of a tooth-coloured resin to repair small imperfections in teeth. Aside from providing cosmetic relief, it can fill small holes called cavities.
How It Works??
Tooth bonding is quick and easy, taking around 30 minutes to an hour to complete. First, our leading cosmetic dentist, Dr. Sam Sherif, will use a shade guide to select the resin color that best matches the color of the rest of your teeth. Then, he will roughen the tooth surface and coat it in a conditioning liquid to prepare it for the application of the bonding material. Once he has done this, he will apply the tooth-coloured resin to the affected area. He will carefully mold it and smooth it until it looks natural.
Once he is satisfied with the appearance of the bonding material, he will use an ultraviolet light to harden it. He may then further trim and shape the bonding material before polishing it to match the sheen of the rest of the tooth surface.
Caring For Bonded Teeth
Bonded teeth are easy to care for. All you need to do is follow good oral hygiene, which includes brushing and flossing at least twice a day. It is also important to come into our clinic here in Harley Street, London, for regular examinations and cleanings. During these appointments, Dr. Sam Sherif will keep an eye on your bonded teeth to ensure that they are holding up well.
Bonding material can chip, so it is important to avoid bad habits, such as biting your fingernails and chewing on pens, following undergoing this procedure. It is also advisable to avoid tea, coffee, cigarette smoke and any other substances that could potentially stain your bonded teeth.
